DSM-IV-TR Casebook Diagnosis of "Anna O."
Excerpt
Anna O. presents a clinical picture that was apparently seen
with some frequency in consulting rooms in the Victorian period.
We doubt that many clinicians at the present time see patients quite like
Anna O. For this reason, DSM-IV-TR does not have a single category
that would encompass the variety of symptoms and the often chronic
course that correspond to the traditional concept of Hysteria. Anna
O. is therefore a diagnostic enigma for today's clinician.
