Ursulina is a 14-year-old girl living with her uncle and aunt in Cali, Colombia. On the day of the Assumption of the Holy Virgin Mary, they were startled by the sight and sound of rocks and sticks falling in their yard with great noise. They thought at first that the neighbors were throwing them, but discovered that this was not the case. The commotion continued well into the night and kept them awake. They gathered some rocks to keep inside the house as legal evidence, which they later produced. In the morning they were astonished to find that the rocks outside the house had disappeared. The next night they heard a whistle that seemed to come from all directions at once; it sounded "lugubrious" and "tired." The aunt said it might be a duende (ghost), which made Ursulina fearful, because she had recently heard about a duende in a nearby town.
