Six-month-old Robert was admitted to a hospital
for evaluation of his failure to gain weight when, at 15 pounds,
he fell below the fifteenth percentile for weight for his age. He
was the second of two children born to working-class parents following
an unplanned but normal pregnancy. He weighed almost 9 pounds at
birth.
